Please help with GPS!?
I watch some GPS systems in the Black Friday ads (XL325 TomTom, Magellan Roadmate 1220 – as well as others). I mentioned this to my husband, but he says he wants something he can use when he goes hunting and fishing. These systems have current maps for this kind of thing? If not, what system do? Most road units will your husband in the parking lot. They have no topographic maps, and are quite awkward to use off road. They are not really made to fit in your hand. The Garmin Nuvi 500 series can show both maps and topography, but you need to know what is preloaded on the receiver and if you need to buy other cards besides what comes with it. Handhelds can do turn-by-turn directions and be used off road. However, these handheld devices can give not spoken driving instructions. They just beep when you reach a corner. In addition, they often do not come with maps. Some of the Garmin Oregon Colorado models come with topographic maps, topo maps, but these do not give you turn-by-step.
