best gps on the market
Which is the best portable GPS system on the market in terms of cost and coverage?
I like Garmin too. Have had mine for years. As for coverage, you can be anywhere in the world and should have access to 10 to 12 (24 are in orbit) satellites for Most of the time. The system was designed this way. Plus if you get one is the object of the Russian satellites. I could go on, but allows to keep things simple. Anyway I have a Garmin eTrex Legend (B & W Model) for my personal use. It was about $ 200 3 years ago. I am team leader of a Local Search & Rescue Unit, who uses anything other than Garmin GPS (and a compass, of course) when the field. We use them primarily for their ease of use, battery life (about 24 hrs.on 2 AA), speed satellite lock on (the time it takes to know where you are, ussually less than 30 seconds most time around 12 seconds) and size. Easy to carry. Anyway, Hope this helps.
