Why did my car lose power to the engine while I was driving?
I was driving on a city street yester and my automatic 2006 VW Passat lost power. The radio and everything remained on bu when I would step on the gas no power to the engine. The battery light came on and the temperature gauge was normal. I coasted to the side of the road, turned off the engine, and turned it back on and everything worked fine. It is a bit concerning though that this could happen on the freeway or to my wife while she is driving with the kids. The car only has 40k miles on it. Any help?
I own a 2000 Audi A4 (same engine and tranny as VW). The VW has many safety factors to prevent damage to itself. But sometimes these “safety” factor kicks in for no reason.
Drive it again and it might be gone for good. If it returns, then the only solution is to (a) go to the dealer or VW specialist (b) buy VAG-COM scanner.
I own a VAG-COM scanner and I think it is worth the money. It tells you a lot about the car and it internals.
