Topographic or internal GPS or not?
I wonder if someone can give me suggestions on whether I GPS with topographic or inland lake A card should not OT at all. I'm looking puchasing a gps be used for hiking and camping and road trip. What would you suggest. As it is I'm looking to buy either a Garmin Colorado or a Garmin Oregan. Suggestions? What I need is something that is easy to use with one hand. I intend to mount the GPS on my bike and use it for hikes, walks etc. This is the reason why I lean toward the Colorado or Oregan
You have the choice of a Garmin, which is good. But I would skip the Colorado / Oregon series. These units are not well designed. Sister Oregon has one, and I think the thing is junk. The screen is very difficult to read, the GPS reception is lousy, battery and drinks like a fish. I begun to have an eTrex Legend, which was good, and now a 60Cx, which is a wonderful device. I would get something similar with topographic maps and road. The cards are for inland lake boating. And if you have any problems, Garmin support is the best on the planet. Seriously. I've never had people work so hard to help me. Edit: the Colorado / Oregon series claims to be good for one handed operation, but not really. And you will not be able to read the screen at all in sunlight.
