Microsoft Dynamics GP Development: Dexterity, eConnect, Extender
If you have any versions of Microsoft Dynamics GP (formerly known as Great Plains Dynamics, eEnterprise, Great Plains Accounting for DOS, Windows and Mac) that your corporate ERP, and you intend conduct customization projects, please read this small publication for briefing on Dynamics GP editing tools. We focus on Microsoft Dexterity, eConnect Extender SDK and programming, as in our view, other tools are derived either dexterity or eConnect. 1. Great Plains Dexterity, currently the Integrated Development Environment is known as Microsoft Dexterity. Dexterity was created shell to the abstract of the Dynamics GP database operating system and platform layers back to earlier 1990th. 3. Extender. idea Extender is to deploy Microsoft Dexterity, but to provide a reasonable level of abstraction to allow non-programmers to extend GP with new screens. In Enterprise Extender version (supported directly by eOne – Company Extender original development in Australia), you can even animate your new monitors with dexterity Sanscript code (no way of debugging, however, but it is certainly a big step forward). If you customize Extender for Microsoft Dynamics GP or Small Business Financials earlier versions: 9.0, 8.0, 7.5, 7.0 – upgrade should be very simple and should not require revision of the Code Extender or encoders dexterity. Review customizations, designed Extender, we found that, because everything you can expect performance degradation, especially when you upgrade to new version of Microsoft Dynamics GP, as GP 10.0. 4. Beyond Dex, eConnect and Extender. Well, Great Plains Dynamics everything was initially centered around GP Dexterity: Modifier with VBA, Report Writer, even for Integration Manager, which has been deployed Microsoft OLE Server (Dynamics GP user workstation acted as the OLE server).
