GPS tracking not received by the GPS program?
I am currently reinstalling all the programs on my laptop Toshiba's Dad after a recent OS re-installation. One of these programs is "Microsoft Office Streets and Trips 2006." Once I've installed we decided to try Dad's GPS (GPS-500 SIRF III) and see how it'd work with the program. But although it worked before (it to say before the new OS-installation), it did not work this time. Instead, I was asked to configure the GPS and after doing this and Definition the GPS location to center, nothing worked. What should I do to configure the GPS? Is there a certain GPS driver to install? Or am I just do not do something good?
If the GPS is connected via the USB port, it should not be (but check the manufacturer's website to be sure). If it is connected by the serial port there is not. Log in GPS with Hyperterminal (or serial communication program of your choice) and make sure the GPS is good to talk Code (NMEA, according to my 2002 version) at the correct speed (I think it is 4800 baud) for S & T. In this case, configure S & T for the GPS, as you receive at least 5 satellites, you should see your position on the program. (If you're indoors and do not receive the signals, it looks as if this does not.)
