How to use the GPS of the iPhone 3G to track your route running (s)?

I am aware of something pre-installed, called Nike + iPhone, or anything, but I do not like using accelerometer measurement based due to inaccuracies when your natural stride distance changes during periods of rate increase / decrease. So what apps / methods you aware of? Thank you in advance for your answers.

Im not sure about the iphone GPS system but I am like you I like a gps system rather the system pedometer. A fault may be that I get is a tool that is specific to the work at hand (the key will strike a nail into a wall, but a hammer is better) so I bought a GPS watch. If you see a site like e-bay you might be able to pick up a garmin 205 for approximately 80 GBP now (second hand, but still good), then of course you can run without the phone and have no distractions from people you call! (The show is good as you can see as you run – iPhone would have to be in a holder where you can not see the screen)
