Recommendations on the GPS?
I'm looking to buy a gps system for my in laws that are on the road a lot. (Semi trailers and haul retired cross-country). I need a recommendation on a GPS system of their choosing. would ideally like a) 3.5-inch or more. b) text to speech (turn left on Elm Street instead of turn left in .1 mile) c) EASY interfaces. (The old people who are technology averse) d) and time traffic updates online (talking I need to register to get)? E) What is the accuracy of GPS in the back roads Oregon, Idaho, az? f) a must POI – Gas stations. campgrounds hotels. restraunts. g) less than $ 300 – $ 350 (hey, I m cheap and they are my in-laws) h) Other accessories not needed (mp3, bluetooth, etc etc) i) j Auto Reroute) make-the-lost-when-they-are-visit-me functionality that I reduced my choices to what follows. We a Tom Tom and it works pretty well. He has sent us some interesting non-direct routes, so I always cross check with common sense. All GPS receivers are extremely accurate (provided you have a good signal) down to a few feet in most cases. Problems with "roads Campaign 'have more to do with the internal database of individual aircraft. The GPS will always "know" where it is related to other data points within the unit, I have not gone off-road with our Tom Tom I'm not sure if the roads are back there. I would the retailer and ask for a demonstration.
